I’m thrilled you’ve found your way to our little corner of the internet. Let me introduce myself— I’m Neel Anand, the founder of EHMEA, and I’m absolutely passionate about economic history. I am a Year 12 student studying in Jumeirah English Speaking School, Dubai; but that does not stop me from going above and beyond to pursue and research a subject that I am truly passionate about.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been captivated by the stories and intricacies woven into the fabric of our economic past. From the rise and fall of ancient empires to the modern-day global market dynamics, there’s something truly fascinating about understanding how economies evolve over time. My dream? It’s to pursue my undergraduate studies at the London School of Economics (LSE) focusing on Economic History and Geography. The thought of delving deeper into these subjects fills me with excitement and anticipation.
But before I embark on that journey, I’ve been diving headfirst into research and devouring articles—especially those centered around Africa, a region close to my heart. The richness of its economic history, its resilience, and its untapped potential have always intrigued me. My intrigue over this region even inspired me to write my own article titled “Ethiopia’s Monetary Policy: A Historical Perspective on Currency and Inflation”.
And that’s where EHMEA comes into play. I wanted to create a platform where others like me—enthusiasts, scholars, curious minds—could come together to explore, learn, and share our passion for economic history. Our platform features a curated collection of articles summarizing key insights from renowned economic historians writing on the Middle East and Africa region. These summaries, written by me, aims to offer a comprehensive overview of each article. Each summary directs the reader to the source of the original published article. Finding suitable pictures for each article was quite a task, but with the help of AI-generated images, we’ve managed to enhance the visual experience of our platform.
